DUO ANCHOR

Despite the limited pre-existing repertoire, it is thanks to the audience's many positive reactions that, as arrangers, we bring these two instruments together, carefully exploring all their technical possibilities. After several performances in Antwerp, Liège, Brussels, and Brabant Wallon with a more classical program, our young ensemble debuted a new program in early 2022 at LaVallée (Molenbeek), centered around popular music from the four corners of Europe. It is a tribute to the traditions that form our cultural heritage and have inspired many other musical styles. Indeed, music was born in the hearts of people long before the invention of a notation system and was passed down from generation to generation. Over the centuries, as society evolved and technical advancements were made, increasingly diverse genres emerged, but composers often returned to these original sources whose origins are sometimes forgotten.
Anchor is a contraction of the French words 'Anche' (reed) and 'Corde' (string), as the saxophone belongs to the reed family and the cello to the string family.
